This is my test question:
Solve for x: ln6+ln(x−2)=−2
(Express your answer correct to 3 decimal places.)
Here is the method I used to get the answer:
ln[6(x-6)]=-2
ln(6x-12)=-2
(e^-2)=6x-12
6x=(e^-2)+12
x=(e^-2)+12/6
x=2.022 556
x=2.023

Homework Ban!
In this class we were asked to read this article: http://tiny.cc/homeworkban it was about kids having too much homework. I can see some kids having a lot to do, but their solution to the problem is to not have anymore. I personally feel that this is not the best way to deal with the problem. To get better at anything you must practice it, yes there are people with natural talent but that can only take you so far. It's much like a sport, the players who have little talent can quickly become better than the naturally talented players by just working harder and with more practice. So I would say don't cut out all the homework, but don't take it as marks. There will be kids that take it all and do it all, and kids who do little to none. You will see how they progress and do on tests as a reflection of how much they do and their natural ability.

Probability!
Today we started probability. This is one of my favorite units! I can't wait to get this started. I really like it because it has always been very straight forward for me. You may think I'm joking, I'm not really. This will be a fun unit. Lets keep making outfits as well, just so Bobbie bear can go on vacation!

Excel Fun!
Today you told me to not fool around on my computer, it was also one of the days I really paid attention. You also reminded me to do my math, I will get on that just for you. I'm also very sorry I haven't posted in a while, I will keep on top of all this. Those were my Remembrance day resolutions.

Work Period
Today was a work period, I went over everything and I feel pretty confident about this test. My only problem maybe would be with graphing but I will just keep looking at that one. I also took a second or two today to look at the world cup qualifiers, France (my team) just has to beat Ireland twice they should be fine. Just thought I would let everyone reading know that.

Double Angle Identities
We learned about double angle identities today. They are the same as sum and difference really just an alternate formula. The only real problem with these I can think of is getting the question in the proper form. Other than that I really have no problems with it!

Alpha and Beta Formulas
We went over the alpha and beta formulas today, I found that they really help solving sine and cosine values. The only problem would be remember the signs.

Proofing Identities II
There was no new assignment today, and we basically went over more examples today, I got through some of the assignment and I will tackle the rest of it tonight!
Proofing Identities
Today we learned how to prove identities, I didn't really understand what he was doing at the start but I slowly caught on. One thing I believe might help for me is if I swap out a "Y" value for say cos(x). This would only work however if I remember what is in place for what. I am a little behind in class right now, but with soccer over now I will have lots of time to catch up.
This was also on the wrong blog, just fixed it now.

Graph Compressions.
Today we learned about graphing with absolute values. For example y=|x| will give you a V, 1/3|x| will make it narrower and 3|x| will make it narrower. Also if you put the B value in the | | it does not change the graph. so 3|x|=|3x|.

Review Class
Today he was explaining a equation about the sine ratios. I hope I understand it by the end, and I will update my blog on this later (I hope I remember to).. I really had no idea what he was talking about so I am going to stay for tutoring and figure it out. I hope I understand it by the end, and I will update my blog on this later (I hope I remember to). Ok update time, I looked in my green book and found a lesson on how to graph next to the unit circle chart. I went over this and learned how to graph. I sadly drew a blank on this when it came to the test. note to self: go over it a bit more next time.

friday september 25, 09
Today I was having problems stating the domain and range from yesterday. I looked over it and researched through the green book to learn that the "K" value is needed to bring it full circle back to the same point to keep the function going.

Past Exam Questions
Today we were to answer an old exam question and post how we did it on the whole class blog. I picked a question that is the same style as the ones that have been giving me trouble recently. I worked my way through it and got the right answer in the end. I did ask Stephen again to make sure I was on the right track midway through my question. I also learned some useless html text today. For example if you want to make a degree(°) symbol all you have to type is "& deg" (without the space). I was very happy with how I did my question. There is very little I don't understand anymore.

Working on Acclerated math
In class we went through a few of Jill's accelerated math questions. Then I went on to do some of my own, there was one question that was giving me sin = 3/4 and knowing that is also x/1 I was having problems with it. So i asked Stephen and he told me to use my original ratios so I knew that the 4 was actually the hypotenuse which is 1, after that I found it all fairly easy. Thank you Steve-O!

Trig Law Chart
For this class we were told to make a chart with all the trig functions on it. At the start I had no idea how I was to do this, but as the class went on I realized that as the points go around the circle the pattern repeats. For sine up to 90 it goes 0, 1/2, root2/2, root3/2, and then 1. it is the opposite as the cosine ratios. And to find secant and cosecant you would just reverse it.

Creation of the Unit Circle
Today we learned how to create a unit circle. Some important points are:
1) Know the Fractions
2) The 6 Trig Ratios
Sine = y/1 Cosecant = 1/y
Cosine = x/1 Secant = 1/x
Tangent = y/x Cotangent = x/y

Today we had a sub, it was ridiculously hot in the class so we went down to the cafeteria. I worked on the cumulative exercises because I didn't understand the accelerated math.

Radians
What I learned about Radians
- There are 3.14 of them in 180 degrees of a circle.
- The measured angle of a Radian is 57.4 degrees.
- A radian is the angle of the arc on a circle with a length equal to the radius.

Goals For The Year
This is the start of a new year in Math. My goals for this year are to finish the class with at least an 80% average, finish one test with an 85% mark, and do all of the work I am required.
